As a clergyman, Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago has likely become more than used to sporting black attire.
Well, he certainly showed his true colors Wednesday at the local White Sox’ Greek Heritage Night baseball game.
Before the South Side favorites took on the St. Louis Cardinals, he stepped up to the mound to deliver the opening pitch, and perhaps even a not-so-subtle message to the North Siders — i.e. Cubs fans — about which team he supports.
Regardless of the North-South rivalry, both sides could agree that the Metropolitan looked like a natural throwing the baseball.
Nonetheless, the recently-elected spiritual leader is probably not planning to enter the Major League market… yet.
