On the beach of Roditses on the island of Samos, there’s a restaurant called Maria’s. It’s no ordinary restaurant, though— and you won’t find many locals.
What you will find, however, is a place that’s bustling every night with families, young children and people whose eyes are filled with gratitude.
For the past year and a half, Maria Makroyianni and her partner Michalis have been feeding dozens upon dozens of people in need— refugees primarily, or anyone who needed a free meal.
She’s lost count but estimated the free meals in the thousands as desperate people— most families with young children— continuing to land on the beaches of her island.
“These are people with nothing,” she said.
When you see wet, starving, desperate and crying people, what do you do… ask them where you are from? Ask them what religion they are? That is a sin. Our faith tells us to feed them. Our humanity tells us to do what we can to help.”
We at The Pappas Post want to support Maria and Michali’s efforts and have set up a special fund called “Maria’s Pantry Fund” to assist her with some basic food items. 100% of the money we raise from our readers will be sent to Maria to support her efforts. You can donate via PayPal here:

Please keep us updated on how much you raise. I saw the story online (I am in Ireland) and this was the only way I could find to donate to Maria and Michalis. They are an inspiration – truly.
