Taking a stab at the International Monetary Fund’s harsh policies towards Greece, the French satire magazine which was attacked by Islamic extremists in Paris featured the Greek debt crisis on its front page.
The satirical cover portrayed IMF chief Christine Lagarde pushing a Greek man underwater and drowning him with the headline “Save Europe” and the Lagarde cartoon character saying “Drown a Greek.”
Many in France are critical of the IMF’s handling of the Greek debt negotiations.
