US Senator and Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has sent a congratulatory message to the people of Greece for their historic “no” vote in today’s referendum.
“I applaud the people of Greece for saying ‘no’ to more austerity for the the poor, the children, the sick and the elderly.”
“In a world of massive wealth and income inequality Europe must support Greece’s efforts to build an economy which creates more jobs and income, not more unemployment and suffering.”
Sanders has taken every opportunity to blast the creditors of Greece for their harsh treatment and the impact of their policies on average people.
Describing the austerity policies as an “abysmal failure,” the progressive presidential candidate chastised the so-called Troika—the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank (ECB), and the European Commission—for inflicting severe “economic pain and suffering” on the Greek people.
“It is unacceptable that the International Monetary Fund and European policymakers have refused to work with the Greek government on a sensible plan to improve its economy and pay back its debt,” Sanders said in a statement.
“At a time of grotesque wealth inequality, the pensions of the people in Greece should not be cut even further to pay back some of the largest banks and wealthiest financiers in the world.”

Mr. Sanders, with all due respect…While we appreciate your enlightenment and realization and acknowledgement of the facts, as well as your support…and I do realize you are in the process of a campaign, it’s your influence and power to help the people of Greece….not soley your words. They are suffering and need some relief. Is there anything you could do about that? Good Luck with your campaign.
He’ll probably do something if he wins
Right now he’s just a senator, no real power in international affairs

1. Turn over – Give many bureaucratic state services to the private sector, automate, and reduce the writing and submission of applications for everything, for example, instead of twelve different forms for a simple application…..and 3 different departments …. just to get your birth certificate.
2. Come into direct agreements with a country or a company to start drilling for oil. Greece has unimaginable oil deposit.
3. Start collecting taxes from tax evaders and ask the European Union to help with bills Swiss Bank owed to Greece more than € 20 billion.
4. Put an end to illegal immigration until the unemployment rate has fallen below 10%. Also ask the European Union to help prevent those seeking political asylum from the entry into Greece, and to re-direct them to other countries until Greece recovers.
5. Use the United Nations and the courts to insist on Germany to pay war reparations to Greece.
6. Make a demand in England, Germany and other countries, to return to Greece Stolen Archeologial, religious, and other objects relics. Since the 1940s, Greece has been exploited, and used for the benefit of Europe.
7. Establish a website of the Greek government that it is user-friendly, and easy to find services and requests, and to allow people, both in Greece and outside Greece to submit requests for passports, birth certificates, identity cards, etc. Unfortunately, today The Greek website is chaotic. Also, the website should also be in English, German and other languages. In other words, Greece must be more technologically advanced and available if it wants to increase its business deals, tourism, and the participation of people.
8. Get in negotiations with the Greek shipping companies for a temporary tax plan, and ask the airlines to exercise some temporary discounts for flights to Greece in order to encourage tourism.
9. Finally, ask every Greek throughout the world to come to Greece for a visit and to promote Greek tourism

It’s heartbreaking to see all the chaos and distraught people. I am profoundly sorry for them and all my family members that are caught up in this awful mess. The affection and best wishes of my entire family are with the Greek people right now. We are all hoping and praying for a quick resolution. 🙁
