Susan Sarandon in Lesvos; Meets with Refugee Support Volunteers

Susan Sarandon is the latest Hollywood celebrity who has responded to the refugee crisis in Greece, visiting Lesvos to lend a hand and see first hand how the crisis is impacting people.

Sarandon Tweeted a farewell to New York City when she departed for Athens yesterday, not revealing her destination.

Today, she tweeted a photo of a propeller flight to Lesvos, the Greek island that has become “ground zero” for the European refugee crisis— “One my way to Lesbos,” she wrote.

Although her whereabouts haven’t been made public, nor has she publicly announced any volunteer activity on the island, she was spotted in a Facebook photo with Apostolis Paraskevopoulos, a well-known volunteer on the island who is coordinating a massive effort with other volunteers, in the village of Skala Sikamnias, where thousands of refugees pass daily.
