Greek America’s famous chef Michael Psilakis has opened a Greek taverna in Astoria, the heart of New York’s Greektown. But don't expect the typical Greek fare at MP Taverna, which Psilakis describes as his own modern interpretation of a traditional Greek taverna. Describing the food as Greek American, he has taken his mother’s Greek cooking and added a pinch of America to the mix. On the menu: Cod with garlic, potato puree and tomato sauce and octopus with a Mediterranean chickpea salad.
