Two adorable poodle mixes, abandoned and found near Akrata, near Aegion in the Peloponnese, have found a forever home in the United States, thanks to the partnership between two organizations working hand in hand across the Atlantic.
But rescuers need someone flying from Athens to either Boston or Montreal to deliver the pups.
New England Helps Greek Strays, run by Christine DuBois, has found homes for dozens of abandoned Greek dogs through her organization, New England Helps Greek Strays.
With the support of Anastasia Arvanitinou and her organization, the Achaic Society for the Care of Animals (ASCA) in Patra, abandoned Greek dogs are properly vetted, treated and flown to North America, where Christine personally picks them up at the airport to unite them with their new families.
Katy and Andreas— about a year and a half old, will be adopted by an American family after proper vetting takes place. But they need to get here first.
The individual (or individuals) flying assume no cost or risk— they just serve as companions. Volunteers will meet the flyers in Athens to deliver the pups and the paperwork, and someone will meet upon arrival either in Montreal or Boston to pick up the dogs.
The transport of these animals from Greece to the United States or Canada is 100% legal and all necessary paperwork has been completed, including veterinary certificates and the proper travel documents.
If you know anyone flying from Athens to either Montreal or Boston in the coming weeks, please contact Christine DuBois via email here or via the Facebook page New England Helps Greek Strays.
