Alexis Tspiras in a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu confirmed that he would make an official visit to Turkey “in the near future,” according to an official statement from the Greek prime minister’s office.
The two met during the recent session of the UN General Assembly, when Davutoglu invited Tsipras to visit Turkey to discuss closer cooperation between two countries. The invitation was accepted during the phone conversation.
Tsipras also said about the necessity to preserve diplomatic channels between two countries, especially taking into consideration the regional problems, such as the influx of refugees arriving in Greece through the Turkish territory, the statement added.
