In anticipation of the upcoming World Cup— the global soccer competition watched by billions of people around the world, US sports network ESPN hired a Brazilian artist named Cristiano Siqueira to make unique posters for all 32 teams in the tournament.
They should have also hired a spell checker.
Each poster featured the national team’s nickname and star player, and they each have a distinct style.
What the artist was going for with the Greek team— “ETHNIKI” or “national” ended up being a strange concoction of Greek letters that looks more like it belongs on the side a Russian submarine.

#STHPIKI!
Στηπικι is better!
That is terrible! Does nobody there realize that Greek is an actual language? Not just a collection of funky letters!?!?!
What really drives me nuts is when they use the Sigma as an E. Like in Big Fat Greek Wedding. (A movie which I wasn’t that nuts about)
